4 JUNE 2025

I have been a fan of Motörhead since 1980 when I purchased their vinyl album 'Ace of Spades', I was also lucky enough to have seen them live at Victoria Hall in Hanley, Stoke on Trent for the Ace of Spades World Tour on Friday 24th October 1980, I was 14 years old and it was my first ever gig.

LEMMY KILMISTER MEMORIAL STATUE, BURSLEM, STOKE ON TRENT

Wow,Hard to believe, but that was 45 Years ago, back then, I had long dark hair, was into head banging and stunk of Patchouli oil, the atmosphere at this gig was electric, I have some amazing memories of this concert, but the highlight of the gig for me, was Lemmy talking to the crowd, then saying "Bomber", the song started, and I first saw the bomber lighting rig appear, which was a steel frame, in the form of a WW2 bomber airplane, this filled the entire width of the stage and hung above the bands heads, with the searchlights flashing, and the music banging, they sounded absolutely awesome, so good, my ears rang for days after, it was incredible, difficult to explain just how loud Motörhead were back then.

LEMMY KILMISTER (BASS AND VOCALS), FAST EDDIE CLARKE (LEAD GUITAR) AND PHILTHY ANIMAL TAYLOR (DRUMS) - 1980.

So to mark 10 years since Lemmy's death and 50 years since the band was originally formed, A memorial statue of the legendary heavy metal frontman Lemmy Kilmister has been unveiled in the late singer's hometown in Burslem, Stoke on Trent.

The statue contains some of Lemmy's ashes, which were accompanied to the unveiling ceremony by a procession of motorbikes, the memorial to the Motörhead singer has been created by a local sculptor Andy Edwards, the black coloured 2.25m bronze cast statue was uncovered in Market Place on Friday the 9th May 2025.

The remainder of Lemmy's ashes have been distributed to close friends and some have even been incorporated into tattoos.

RIP 'The Three Amigos'

I was grounded, my dad refused to let me go, seems silly now, but he was very strict, and I was gutted, 👍🏻
