We were at a loose end, so decided to go to the Trentham Monkey Forest in Staffordshire for a few hours. Weather stayed good, we saw plenty of monkeys and watched them until feeding time, so what's not to like.
Entry fee was reasonable considering the amount of monkeys you can see, cafe is expensive and does not have a good selection for kids or adults so I would avoid next time and take a packed lunch as there are plenty of places around the play area to sit and relax.
On the way back, we called in at Amerton Farm which used to be very good and reasonable price too, but not anymore unfortunately, I found this to be very expensive for what's on offer here, and we had seen and done everything including having food and drinks in cafe within 2 hours so we will avoid in the future.
TRENTHAM MONKEY FOREST
The Forest is a conservation area and is set in 60-acres of woodland and you can see up close 140 Barbary Macaques monkeys which are free to roam just as they do in the wild.

Opened in 2005, this is the largest primate habitat in the UK

Did you know there are only around 8,000 Barbary macaques in the wild anywhere in the world, and 140 of them are here roaming wild

AMERTON FARM
So what can you see and do at Amerton Farm?
You can see cows, sheep, pigs, goats, horses, donkeys, alpacas, reindeer, rabbits, guinea pigs, peacocks, hens, ducks and geese, and you can buy food so the kids can feed the animals.
What else?
Sit and have a photo on the Old Fergie Tractor, play in the sand pit or peddle the go carts around the track, oh there's also a cafe and indoor play area.
