Well, what to say about Twycross Zoo.....Lets see. expensive, regimental and tiny are words I would use to sum this place up, perhaps I'm being a bit mean, after all the animals seem well cared for, which is obviously the most important thing, and to be fair it was absolutely hammering it down proper cats and dogs for every minute we were there, so maybe we didn't give it a proper chance?

Good luck navigating this place, in all honesty, its needs a major rethink, there is no obvious direction to navigate your way around, confusing sign posts its all a bit naff really, also you don’t actually get to see many animals, although this could be due to the time of day when we visited, but we didn't see anything remotely like the total number of animals detailed on the website.

PAY FOR A DAY, VISIT FOR 12 MONTHS FREE!
But if you don't get chance to do that you are paying around £30 each adult and £20 for a child, plus paying to park your car, plus £3 for the indoor play area, don't even get me started on the indoor play area, of course its also where the main food hall is and boy is it expensive, one large pizza and a fruit shoot drink £28, and add insult to injury, you have to book a 1 hour time slot for £3 for the play area.

Now me being me, its pouring down with rain, so I said, "lets go in the play area" Amanda said "We can't its not our time slot", I said its peeing down don't be daft, long story short, she was right and I was not too happy about it, so we decided to make our way home, cut the day trip short and find another indoor play area for Oscar to play.

We will be back, soon, just for the sake of getting our money worth, it will be a dry day, and we will take a picnic, my view of Twycross Zoo will probably be better with a full belly and a happy family.

UPDATE 25TH AUGUST 2025
So we tried again on a nice sunny bank holiday Monday, We took a picnic this time too, we lasted 4 hours then we bailed, I stand by my previous comments fully, again we didn’t see many animals, most of the cages seemed empty and the animals weren’t outside either, we concluded that it must be too hot for the animals, that’s why we weren't seeing many, but the majority of the animals come from Africa which is red hot so we should have seen more than we did.

My advice, travel to Chester Zoo or West Midlands Safari Park, in preference to here.
